1989 Suzuki RGV250 VJ21
Starting in March 2021, a cheap, very ratty, RGV250 came up for sale in Scotland, which was swiftly purchased as the next big restoration project. It very quickly became aparent when the bike arrived that it was going to be a much bigger task than first thought as it had been sat outside for over 18 years.

Although the first thought was to do a full OEM restoration, it was soon decided to build a bit more of a special, as it had been many years since building the last trick road bike. So over a 2 year period, the bike was built with no real plan, just sourcing and buying parts when they became available and eventually something would come of it. By June 2023 there were enough parts to start the project. No expense has been spared and the bike has been built up meticulously, with all work (apart from the paint) being done in house.

While trying to create a special RGV, it took a while to design a livery that would suit the 80s styling of the bike and not just doing another Pepsi or Lucky Strike paint job. We wanted something that gave it the look of a Japanese production race bike, something a "privateer" may have raced back in the day. SEGA released the Megadrive console in 1989 in Japan and this in one way or another helped design the idea for the paint scheme. This is not a replica of anything, its a one of a kind.
The build was finished in Jan2024 and was unveiled at the Newark Winter Classic Show. Below is a gallery of a small selection of the build pics.
